
Professor Jingyuan Fang is an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a distinguished gastroenterologist specializing in gastrointestinal diseases and digestive oncology. He serves as Director of the Digestive Disease Center at Renji Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Dean of the School of Gastroenterology.
Professor Fang has been a pioneer in the study of intestinal microecology and its role in gastrointestinal tumor development. His research focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, as well as the mechanisms underlying precancerous lesions of the digestive tract. Through decades of clinical and translational research, he has made significant contributions to advancing early detection and prevention strategies for digestive system malignancies.
Professor Fang has led numerous national research programs and has played a key role in shaping the development of digestive disease research in China. His work has received multiple national honors, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize). In addition to his research achievements, he has been actively involved in medical education and the cultivation of future clinical scientists in gastroenterology.
He has published extensively in leading international journals and has contributed significantly to the advancement of gastrointestinal oncology and microbiome research, helping to bridge basic science and clinical practice in digestive disease prevention and treatment.
