Prof. Xiaojian Wu

President, Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University

Professor Xiaojian Wu is President of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (Sun Yat-sen University Gastrointestinal and Anal Hospital) and a distinguished surgeon specializing in colorectal cancer and complex intestinal diseases. He is also Director of the Guangdong Institute of Gastrointestinal Diseases and a leading expert in gastrointestinal surgery and translational research.

Professor Wu has extensive experience in the surgical management of locally advanced and recurrent colorectal cancer, as well as complex inflammatory bowel diseases. His research focuses on precision treatment strategies, early detection systems for colorectal cancer, and translational research in cancer recurrence and drug resistance.

He has led major national research programs, including projects funded by the National High-Tech Research and Development Program (863 Program) and international collaborative research initiatives. His research findings have been published in leading international journals, including PNAS, Advanced Science, Nature Communications, and Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology.

Professor Wu has played an important role in the development of clinical guidelines and consensus statements for gastrointestinal diseases in China and serves in multiple academic leadership roles. His work bridges clinical surgery, precision medicine, and translational oncology, contributing significantly to advances in colorectal cancer treatment.
