Professor Kaichun Wu is a distinguished gastroenterologist and President of the Digestive Disease Hospital at Xijing Hospital, Air Force Medical University (Former Fourth Military Medical University). He is a leading expert in gastrointestinal oncology and inflammatory bowel disease, with extensive experience in both clinical medicine and translational research.
Professor Wu has made significant contributions to the study of digestive system tumors and inflammatory bowel diseases, particularly in the mechanisms of tumor metastasis and angiogenesis. His research has revealed the regulatory roles of FOXO transcription factors in tumor metastasis, and he has developed innovative molecular strategies for targeted cancer therapy and molecular imaging.
He is a Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholars Program and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, two of the most prestigious academic honors in China. Professor Wu currently serves as Chair of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and holds leadership roles in several major academic organizations, including the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) and the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE).
Professor Wu has led more than 20 national research projects, including major programs funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Program. He has published over 300 SCI-indexed papers in leading international journals and has received multiple national awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
